[Saba Sports News] Brazilian football legend Ronaldo spoke to the media at the opening of a surf club recently, revisiting the reasons behind his decision to pause investments in football. He stated that this was not an impulsive move, but a rational choice made after prolonged consideration. He has gradually withdrawn his investments in two football clubs, bringing an end to his career in club management, and made it clear that he has no intention of re-entering the football investment sector for the time being.
A major factor behind this decision is the distress he has suffered from the extreme behavior of football fans. Following a team’s defeat, organized fan groups often resort to aggressive acts such as confronting, verbally abusing players and staff, and even smashing cars. The toll of such negative emotions has left him feeling exhausted. In contrast, fields like surfing and tennis come with no such pressures, aligning better with his current desire for a relaxed life.
Beyond this, the imbalance between capital input and returns has also made him abandon all thoughts of further football investments. He previously injected a huge sum of money into the clubs to pay off debts and cover daily operational costs, yet the teams consistently delivered poor results and even suffered relegation on multiple occasions, leading to a drop in the clubs’ market value. This reality has made him unwilling to continue wasting capital on football investments.
