[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, during a previous North London derby, a Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) supporter showed Declan Rice a photo of his wife to taunt and mock him. It was reported that in a photo shot for Shutterstock, on the home team’s stand at Tottenham’s stadium, a fan’s phone screen displayed Rice’s wife Flair’s photo, and the fan waved the phone in front of Rice as a provocation. Flair was subjected to online bullying in 2024, to the extent that she was forced to delete all photos from her social media. In 2024, Rice spoke out bravely against the online abuse and mockery to support his childhood sweetheart, saying: “She is real, funny, beautiful, kind, and I love her more than anything in the world. When I feel lonely in the world, she is my safe haven. My woman is the love of my life; there is no ‘upgrade’ as you say.”
The editor believes that in the tense derby atmosphere, jeers and taunts are commonplace, but this Spurs fan’s behavior undoubtedly crossed a moral line. Using a player’s wife’s photo to mock the player is utterly excessive and utterly despicable.
