[Saba Sports News] Recently, Chinese badminton players Peng Jianqin and Cui Hechen announced their withdrawal from the national team. In his statement, Peng reflected on seven years with the national team, expressing feelings of reluctance and frustration. He thanked everyone who had helped him and acknowledged the perseverance within himself. Cui expressed gratitude to coaches, teammates, and staff who had supported him, stating that every journey has an endpoint. Removing the national team jersey signifies both an end and a new beginning, and he plans to continue pursuing his passion.
The two have primarily focused on men’s doubles as partners and have been part of the Chinese badminton national team for seven years. Their most notable achievement was winning the silver medal in men’s doubles at the 2025 World University Games. However, they struggled to achieve breakthroughs in other international competitions, making it difficult for them to become key players in the men’s doubles for the national team, ultimately leading to their regrettable departure.
The editor believes that in competitive sports, talent is fundamental, and there are no excuses. Success and failure are part of the game; without results, others will judge you negatively, which is a harsh reality. The resources of the national team are limited, and opportunities cannot be given indefinitely. Only by truly becoming strong can one stand tall.
