[Saba Sports News] Due to the ongoing military conflicts in the Middle East and for safety reasons, F1 has canceled the planned tire test in Bahrain. Pirelli had originally intended to conduct wet tire tests in collaboration with the Mercedes and McLaren teams at the Bahrain International Circuit, but the two-day wet tire development test has now been officially canceled. In a statement, Pirelli indicated that all staff members in Manama are safe and currently staying at their hotel, and the company is making every effort to ensure their safety and arrange their return home as quickly as possible. It is understood that young driver Frederik Vesti was scheduled to represent the Mercedes team in this test and had already arrived in Bahrain. The team is now arranging for him to head directly to Melbourne. Previously, the US and Israel conducted strikes against Iran, prompting Iran to retaliate, which also led to missile strikes affecting Bahrain. The country’s airspace is currently closed.
The editor believes that the safety and health of employees are paramount. From both humanitarian and legal perspectives, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees is a responsibility that Pirelli must uphold.
