[Saba Sports News] Malaysian badminton legend Lee Chong Wei recently announced that Malaysia will host its first youth badminton tournament this year. The aim is to nurture young talent, promote a healthy lifestyle, and encourage teenagers to pursue their dreams through sports. According to the organizers, the competition is expected to attract around 3,200 young participants. There will be three age categories: under 13, under 15, and under 17, covering events in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The tournament will offer a total prize money of approximately 100,000 Malaysian Ringgit, and outstanding players will also have the opportunity to participate in trials at the Malaysian Badminton Academy. Regarding the organization of this tournament, Lee Chong Wei stated that badminton has always been an important sport that unites Malaysian society, and he hopes that this event will serve as an important platform for young players’ development.
