[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, UEFA, CONMEBOL and the Qatari government are set to make a final decision on the venue of the UEFA-CONMEBOL Club Challenge. If Qatar agrees to terminate the original contract, the tournament is likely to be moved to Europe. The Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal, is currently the most promising alternative venue. Besides Lisbon, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy, has also been listed as another candidate outside Doha. Reports say a high-level meeting will be held in the coming days, where UEFA, CONMEBOL and the Qatari government will jointly make a final decision on the tournament arrangements. The competition was originally planned to take place in Qatar, but the venue will be changed if Qatari authorities agree to end the existing contract.
The editor believes that among the potential alternatives, the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, Portugal, is undoubtedly the best choice. Should Qatar agree to terminate the contract, this stadium will become the new venue for the tournament. However, the issue of contract termination remains the biggest obstacle in the process of finding an alternative host.
