[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Roberto De Zerbi earns a high annual salary of 12 million euros at Tottenham Hotspur, ranking second only to Josep Guardiola in the Premier League. Previously, Tottenham officially announced the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi as the club’s new head coach. The Italian manager returns to the Premier League two years after ending his tenure at Brighton & Hove Albion. He takes over from former Juventus boss Igor Tudor, who reached a mutual termination agreement with the club on March 29. Igor Tudor had been in charge for just six weeks, leaving behind a dismal record of four defeats and one draw in the league, plus an exit in the Champions League round of 16. His poor results directly pushed Tottenham into the danger of relegation to the EFL Championship for the first time in 49 years. De Zerbi’s mission is to turn the team’s fortunes around in the remaining seven league matches. His debut will be the away game against Sunderland on Sunday, April 12.
The editor believes that although Roberto De Zerbi has signed a long five‑year contract, the terms are extremely favorable to him. With an annual salary of as high as 12 million euros, he ranks second in the Premier League, only behind Pep Guardiola. In the event of relegation, De Zerbi is allowed to leave freely without paying any termination fees, while still being entitled to receive his full salary in guaranteed payments.
