[Saba Sports News] Recently, Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo has revealed that he suffered further racist abuse this season. On Monday, Semenyo posted a screenshot on his Instagram Story showing abusive messages sent from an account, with the caption: “Here we go again.” In the Premier League opening game of this season, Semenyo—then playing for his former club Bournemouth—reported being subjected to racist abuse from a spectator during his side’s 2-4 defeat to Liverpool, in which he scored twice. Mark Morgan, 47, was later arrested by Merseyside Police and charged with a Section 5 racially aggravated public order offence. He pleaded not guilty to the charge at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court in December. The court was told that his trial is scheduled for April 22. Following this latest isolated incident, Manchester City is understood to be providing the Ghana international with all the care and support he needs.
The editor believes that Semenyo’s case is the latest in a growing list of Premier League players subjected to racist abuse this season. In the same weekend in February alone, four players were targeted.
