[Saba Sports News] At the Miami Grand Prix, Max Verstappen stole the spotlight with a spectacular 360-degree spin and car save. While chasing the leading pack at the start, the Red Bull driver lost control and spun at Turn 2. He pulled off a perfect pirouette right on the verge of hitting the wall and swiftly got back into race rhythm.
After the race, he joked that if he ever retired from F1, he might consider taking up rally racing.
The dramatic moment unfolded on the opening lap. Starting from the front row, Verstappen looked to pile on early pressure, but the car lost rear grip under heavy fuel load and snapped into a sudden tail slide. Verstappen admitted afterwards that he thought a crash was inevitable. He went full throttle to minimize the damage, and the car luckily completed a full 360-degree rotation and straightened itself up perfectly.
Even so, the incident cost him dearly. He dropped into the midfield and pitted early under the safety car on Lap 7, falling to the back of the field for a time. Though he fought back hard in the closing stages, he could only finish fifth. Considering he also received a 5-second time penalty for crossing the line while exiting the pit lane, the final result was already a successful damage limitation.
In the editor’s opinion, Verstappen’s ability to instantly correct the car’s attitude under extreme conditions reflects his elite car sense and lightning-fast reflexes, a showcase of supreme skill — though a fair amount of luck also played a part.
