[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Chelsea fan protest group Not A Project CFC plans to stage a march at Wembley ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup final. They fear Chelsea could end up in a similar predicament to Tottenham, who are currently facing relegation threats, if the club fails to improve its current situation. Discontent among Chelsea supporters towards the club’s ownership has surged in recent weeks. Liam Rosenior was sacked in late April after just three months in charge, having served merely 107 days in the role. Under his management, the team suffered an embarrassing record of five consecutive goalless Premier League defeats for the first time since 1912. Fans believe Rosenior’s struggles are a reflection of the club’s ownership issues, as Chelsea are now set to hunt for their sixth permanent head coach in four years. A spokesperson for the group stated: “Following our last protest, the club said it would engage in self-reflection. Yet we have received no updates on any outcomes. The club lacks accountability and proper communication with its fans.”
The editor believes that fans are worried that Chelsea may follow the same path as their arch-rivals Tottenham. Just 12 months after winning the Europa League, Tottenham have slipped into a relegation battle. Surveys conducted by the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust (CST) show that fans are dissatisfied with matchday atmosphere, ticketing access, ticket pricing and many other aspects.
