[Saba Sports News] Malaysian men’s singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao has been issued a final warning to rectify his disciplinary issues immediately, or he risks being kicked out of the national team.
Lee Chong Wei stated that Leong Jun Hao has skipped training sessions on multiple occasions with a slack training attitude, which has severely undermined his performances in various tournaments. Kenneth Jonassen, head coach of Malaysia’s singles squad, even suggested removing Leong Jun Hao from the national team roster. Nevertheless, Lee Chong Wei is still willing to give him one last chance, believing that the young player is capable of turning over a new leaf.
Lee revealed that Leong Jun Hao’s main flaw is his lack of dedication to training, and he often fails to show up for sessions. Absences caused by injuries are understandable, yet that is not the case here. He added that he held a private talk with Leong Jun Hao after the Thomas Cup to discuss his career prospects. Given his persistent disciplinary violations, the national badminton association has officially served him the final notice.
In my opinion, Lee Chong Wei’s demand for Leong Jun Hao to fix his disciplinary problems right away is not an emotional outburst, but sound advice drawn from his rich professional experience. He regards strict discipline as the foundation of integrated reforms covering technical skills, mental fortitude and team management. His views are highly practical and reflect his successful transition from a legendary player to a sports industry reformer.
