[Saba Sports News] According to Czech media, Czech side Kaviná earned a spot in European competitions by winning the Czech Cup, yet the qualification could be revoked over match-fixing allegations. Kaviná were celebrating the greatest triumph in the club’s history after beating Jablonec 3-1 in the Czech Cup final to lift the country’s second-most prestigious domestic trophy. However, the match-fixing scandal means they are unlikely to embark on their European campaign. In the Czech football hierarchy, the Czech Cup ranks second only to the top-flight league title. Meanwhile, the club now faces serious match-fixing accusations. An investigation by Czech Radio revealed that 13 defendants have admitted to match manipulation and bribery based on police documents, among them former Kaviná midfielder Samuel Higuit.
The editor believes that UEFA enforces extremely strict policies. UEFA upholds the principle of collective guilt, meaning a confession from a single player can implicate the entire club.
