[Saba Sports News] According to TalkSPORT, Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes has committed to staying at Manchester United. Although Bruno had not held formal talks with the club over his future prior to the World Cup, he has confided in his teammates and close confidants about his intention to remain at Old Trafford.
United’s hierarchy have no concerns over their captain’s potential exit, despite a tempting release clause embedded within his contract. Bruno’s current deal has one year remaining, alongside an optional one-year automatic extension. It includes a €65 million release clause that only applies to clubs outside England.
Last summer, three Saudi Pro League sides — Al Hilal, Al Nassr and Al Ittihad — all made approaches to sign the midfielder. The offer from Al Hilal once tempted Bruno greatly, yet after weighing up his sporting prospects and family considerations, he ultimately opted to stay at Old Trafford. Saudi leagues had hoped Bruno would be open to leaving Manchester United once the World Cup concluded. However, TalkSPORT understands the Portuguese international will remain with the Red Devils for at least another season.
In my view, as team captain and tactical linchpin, Bruno disclosing his plan to stay to insiders in advance removes uncertainty inside the dressing room, which will aid Manchester United’s tactical setup heading into the early stages of the new campaign.
