[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media, Manchester United claim Éderson Silva has a meniscus issue, while Atalanta deny that fitness problems have put the transfer on hold. The Brazilian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United for weeks. However, sources from the English side revealed that a meniscus problem appeared to surface during his medical examination yesterday. As a result, the deal has been suspended and faces the risk of collapsing entirely. Back in May, Atalanta had agreed to sell the 1999-born midfielder to the Red Devils for a transfer fee of €45 million, and the player himself had reached a full agreement with the Premier League club on a five-year contract worth €5 million per annum. Meanwhile, Atalanta refute the claim that stalled transfer talks stem from medical concerns. Manchester United quickly agreed on the transfer fee with Atalanta at the start of the summer transfer window. If the deal ultimately falls through, even for reasons beyond the Red Devils’ control, it will still leave a negative impression.
The editor believes that we will have to wait and see whether there is still room to restart negotiations, possibly with a discount on the transfer fee, or if the deal will fall through completely.
