Cary Andrew Irving (born March 23, 1992), also known as Uncle Drew. He is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. Irving was born in Melbourne, Australia, [1] and spent his childhood in New Jersey, where he played for the Duke University Blue Devils in college. Irving is widely regarded as one of the best ball handlers of all time. Irving was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft and was named NBA Rookie of the Year. In Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, Irving hit a key three-pointer with 53 seconds left to help the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors from a 3-1 deficit, winning the team’s first championship and ending a 52-year championship drought for Cleveland’s local professional teams. He was an eight-time All-Star and the 2014 All-Star Game’s Most Valuable Player, and was named to the All-NBA first team three times. Irving won gold MEDALS with the U.S. national team at the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics, and was the Most Valuable Player of the 2014 World Cup.
