[Saba Sports News] Before the draft, the class of 2024 was generally low in terms of quality and potential, which was a consensus reached by all. In the regular season, the disappointment expanded again. For the past few weeks, the top spot has been dominated by Memphis Grizzlies’ second-round pick Wells, an edge player averaging just 12 points per game. For a long time, he was the only rookie to average in double figures.

But after a month or so of acclimating, the class of 2024 has begun to emerge slowly, it seems that this rookie is a bit of a late bloomer temperament. The first player to be remembered in the first round was Carrington of the Washington Wizards. He scored in double figures in five of the first seven games, but shot less than 40 percent from the field, and was somewhat of a “point-scorer” for the Wizards, the bottom team in the Eastern Conference.
Carrington, however, came up strong, but it didn’t take long for him to hit the rookie wall, scoring only single digits in many games. McCain, the Philadelphia 76ers’ 14th overall pick in the first round, took over. He has averaged a minimum of 18 points since Nov. 9 and has scored 20 points in seven of his nine games and 30 points in two. So far, he’s averaging 16.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range. Not only was he the most efficient of all the rookies, he was also the most efficient scorer on the Sixers.
