(sabasports report)The Copa America has kicked off as scheduled, with the World Cup champions Argentina taking on the North American champions Canada. In the first half, although Argentina had possession, it did not form much of a threat and was finally shut down by Canada.

In the second half, Argentina took the lead. Up front on the right, Lionel Messi got the ball and set up the attack, sending a delicate, scalpel straight stopper through the Canadian defense. Alexis Mac Allister then sent an exquisite diagonal pass from the right side of the box before Julian Alvarez calmly pushed into an empty net to put Argentina ahead.
After 18 minutes, Messi’s single shot into the box was blocked by the goalkeeper, and then he got the ball again, shook the goalkeeper and hit an empty net, but was blocked by the defender. In the 78th minute, Messi again missed a great single opportunity, hit the goal slightly wide.
Argentina got off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Canada after Messi set up Lautaro Martinez late in the game.
