Victor China Open 2025 will kick off in Changzhou, China from July 22 to 27. As one of the highest-level events on the BWF calendar, the China Open is among only four Super 1000 tournaments globally, alongside the long-standing All England, the fierce Indonesia Open, and the passionate Malaysia Open. It is known as the “clash of the top players” in badminton. Moreover, the total prize money for this year’s China Open has reached $2 million, setting a new record for a single event on the BWF circuit.
In the men’s singles, the number one seed and world No.1, Kunlavut Vitidsarn, will be stationed in the top half of the bracket. Notably, Kunlavut was unexpectedly eliminated in the first round of the Japan Open, losing 0-2 to Chinese player Weng Hongyang. Now, at the China Open, it remains to be seen whether he can turn his performance around. Additionally, the third seed and China’s top player, Shi Yuqi, is also in the top half. Playing at home, Shi is undoubtedly the most popular player at this year’s China Open. Meanwhile, another Chinese player and fifth seed, Li Shifeng, is also in the top half and could face Shi Yuqi in the quarterfinals, potentially leading to a “brotherly battle” within the same group. The potential high-level matches in the top half are certainly very exciting.
In the bottom half of the bracket, there is the second seed, Danish star Anders Antonsen. Although Antonsen won the Indonesia Open recently, he was unexpectedly eliminated in the first round of the Japan Open, losing 0-2 to Chinese player Lei Lanxi. His inconsistent performance has raised questions about how he will perform at this year’s China Open. In addition, Antonsen will also face challenges from the fourth seed Jonatan Christie, seventh seed Kodai Naraoka, and eighth seed Alex Lanier in the bottom half. While the potential matchups in the bottom half may not be as eye-catching as those in the top half, there are still a mix of strong matches and potential upsets.
Whether it’s the massive prize money or the potential match-ups, this year’s China Open promises to be highly anticipated. Every match carries endless possibilities and excitement. The competition is not only a test of skill but also a key moment for players to chase personal glory. Who will stand on the top podium? The answer will be revealed on the court. Let’s all look forward to the outstanding performances of the players!
