(sabasports report)For the first time since 2020, Serie A will not be able to enjoy a tax break from the Italian government. Although the tax break has been abolished, some players will be able to continue to enjoy the policy if certain conditions are met, according to Italian media “Football & Finance”.

Although the tax benefit has been removed, it will continue to apply to players who already enjoy it when they arrive in Italy, for a period of five years. The offer can be extended if a player buys a property in Italy within 12 months of the transfer or has a minor child in Italy.
Football & Finance points out that while the rules are clear on the surface, there are still many doubts about their implementation in practice. Serie A clubs are now coordinating their response to the problems. One major doubt concerns players whose contracts expire and renew within the five-year tax benefit period, with the trend being to continue to enjoy the benefit. Similarly, players who renew their contracts at the end of the concession period can continue to enjoy the offer if they meet the conditions for purchasing property or having minor children.
If a player receiving the tax benefit moves to another Italian club, most clubs assume that the benefit remains valid if the player is still within the five-year benefit period at the time of the transfer. If the concession period is exceeded, the conditions for purchasing a property or having minor children must be met.
Players who would have been entitled to the tax benefit but did not reach the €1m pre-tax annual salary threshold when they moved to Italy will not be able to take advantage of it even if they renew their contract or sign a new contract with another Italian club at a higher wage.
