[Saba Sports News] The International Cricket Council on Friday released the list of venues which will host the T20 World Cup 2024.
While it was already known that the West Indies and the United States of America are the hosts, it now has been revealed the tournament is spread across 10 venues.
Seven venues in the Caribbean – Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago – will host the fixtures. The USA will see its three venues in Dallas, Florida and New York hosting the showpiece event.
Notably, the competition will run from June 4-30 next year.
“We’re delighted to announce the seven Caribbean venues that will host
the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever staged, with 20 teams
competing for the trophy. They’re all popular venues with players and
fans alike that will provide a wonderful backdrop to the event,” ICC Chief Executive Geoff Alardice said as quoted in a press release.
“This will be the third ICC senior men’s event hosted by the West
Indies, and the matches will again give cricket fans the unique
experience of enjoying cricket in the Caribbean. I’d like to thank
Cricket West Indies and the seven host governments for their continued
commitment and support of our sport,” he added.
The T20 World Cup 2024 will include 20 participations. Four groups of five teams each will be formed. Two teams from each group will qualify for Super Eights.
Two more groups will be drawn in the Super Eight round from where four sides will proceed to the semi-finals. The final is scheduled on June 30.
