[Saba Sports News] Stephen A. Smith has stirred up another NBA star with his latest take.
This time, the outspoken ESPN analyst went viral for his remarks about Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Amid ongoing speculation about Antetokounmpo’s future in Milwaukee and the possibility of a trade, Smith weighed in on the former MVP’s legacy — and sparked some controversy.
Smith argued that if Antetokounmpo fails to win another NBA title, he would be considered an “underachiever.” While acknowledging Giannis’ impressive résumé,
Smith pointed to the Bucks’ lack of postseason success since 2022 — including their failure to win a single playoff series — calling that stretch “unacceptable.”
In response, Antetokounmpo addressed the comments indirectly via Instagram on Sunday. He reposted a fan’s message that pushed back on Smith’s claim:
“Giannis went from selling sunglasses on a beach in Greece to a multi-millionaire who won a championship without having to run to a superteam. He has over-achieved his wildest dreams and anyone who thinks otherwise is ridiculous.”
Giannis added several “💯” and “🔥” emojis to the post, making it clear he stood by the sentiment — and wasn’t about to let Smith’s criticism go unanswered.
