[Saba Sports News] Aaron Hardie, the all-rounder, will accompany the Australian squad to India as cover for Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis, who sustained minor injuries during the South Africa tour. This comes as Australia faces fresh injury concerns, just three weeks before the start of the World Cup in India.
Opener Travis Head’s participation in the World Cup is uncertain due to a finger fracture he suffered in South Africa, leading to the inclusion of extra batsman Matthew Short. Abbott’s finger injury and Ellis’s groin strain further added to Australia’s injury woes.
In response, Aaron Hardie, who made his ODI debut on September 9 in Bloemfontein, will remain with the squad for the three ODIs against India from September 22 to 27.
The return of Captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Glenn Maxwell to the one-day international squad is expected after their recovery from injuries.
