Sports News] According to reports from Spanish media, Marcos Acuna, the
left-back for Sevilla, experienced racial discrimination during a match against
Getafe. During the 68th minute of the game, a spectator in the stands directed
racially offensive remarks towards Acuna, including calling him a monkey. In
response, the referee interrupted the game and announced a temporary pause. The
incident was also reported during the live broadcast. After a two-and-a-half-minute
break, the game resumed. Following the match, Sergio Ramos and the coaching
staff of Sevilla expressed their support for Acuna, confirming that they heard
derogatory remarks related to Acuna’s ethnicity from the stands. Notably, the
referee decided to suspend the game and documented the incident in the match
report. The referee also filed reports with officials from La Liga, the Spanish
Football Federation, the Competition Committee, and the Anti-Violence
Committee. In the end, Sevilla emerged victorious with a 1-0 away win against
Getafe, providing some solace for Acuna.
