[Saba Sports News] Recently, the French Football Federation officially announced that Ajaccio has been banned from professional leagues due to financial problems and will be relegated to the amateur league for the new season. Ajaccio finished 12th in the Ligue 2 last season, but the club faced serious financial difficulties. Previously, they had already been dropped to the third division. However, on Wednesday afternoon, the French FA made a harsher decision, announcing that Ajaccio would be prohibited from participating in professional leagues, meaning they will have to start again from the amateur level. According to this ruling, Ajaccio will only participate in the sixth-tier league next season, although they still have the possibility to appeal. Since the 1998–99 season, Ajaccio has competed in the top two divisions of French football. They were in Ligue 1 during the 2022–23 season, but now they will leave professional football. It is reported that Ajaccio has a financial deficit of 13 million euros, of which 6 million euros is debt related to taxes and social security. Next season, the Ligue 3 will have only 17 teams, with one team resting each round.
