[Saba Sports News] The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the national squads for the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China. The men’s team, currently focused on preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup, features a second-string squad led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. The women’s team, under the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, is at full strength.
These squads include several promising youngsters who have excelled in the domestic circuit, earning them the opportunity to represent their country on the international stage.
Additionally, standby players have been named for both squads.
In the women’s team, Pooja Vastrakar replaces the injured Anjali Sarvani. For the men’s team, Shivam Mavi, who was expected to lead the bowling unit, is sidelined due to a back injury.
The competition will be played in T20I format, complying with ICC norms, with the men’s event scheduled from September 28 to October 8 and the women’s event from September 19 to 28.
