[Saba Sports News] According to AutoRacing1, F1 legend Gerard Larrousse believes that Renault might be paving the way for a complete exit from F1. Larrousse, who led the Renault F1 team in the mid-1980s, told French magazine Auto Hebdo that he couldn’t believe Renault would consider stopping their engine project in Viry, France. He questioned why Alpine cars would use Mercedes engines for races, suggesting this might signal Renault’s exit from F1. Despite Alpine’s denial of selling the team, all indications suggest they are preparing for a takeover. Following the resignation of team principal Bruno Famin, his successor, Oliver Oakes, has been appointed amid ongoing management turmoil. Oakes, at 36, is set to become one of the youngest team principals in F1 history. He co-founded the F2 and F3 team Hitech and recently applied for Hitech to become the 11th or 12th F1 team, though rumors suggest their bid was rejected due to connections with the Mazepin family. Instead, Oakes may pursue F1 entry by acquiring an existing team.
