[Saba Sports News] Recently, the draw for the 2025 World Badminton Championships was officially released. In the women’s singles, world number one and defending champion, top seed An Se Young, is in the top half of the bracket. Her first opponent is Belgium’s Clara Lassaux, ranked 101st in the world. Chen Yufei, ranked fourth in the world, is one of the strongest challengers to An Se Young’s title defense. She will face Anna Tatranova from France, the host nation, in the first round. If An Se Young, the Paris Olympics gold medalist, and Chen Yufei, the Tokyo Olympics gold medalist, advance smoothly, they could meet in the semifinals, potentially leading to another high-level showdown. Notably, this year’s World Championships will be held at the Adidas Arena in Paris, the same venue where the badminton competition took place during the 2024 Paris Olympics. An Se Young won the women’s singles gold at the Paris Olympics and will return to the same arena. She claimed her first World Championship title in 2023 and now aims for a historic back-to-back victory.
