[Saba Sports News] During a game against the Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets’ center Nikola Jokic faced an unexpected ejection, leaving the game’s commentators in shock. The Nuggets were ahead 54-47 shortly before the second quarter’s end at Chicago’s United Center.
Jokic, while guarded by Bulls’ Nikola Vucevic, missed a layup and protested to referee Mousa Dagher, believing he had been fouled. Subsequently, during a play on the Bulls’ end, Jokic received a technical foul, quickly followed by a second one from referee Mark Lindsay.
This double technical call against Jokic quickly surprised the Bulls’ commentators. Despite favoring their team, announcers Adam Amin and Stacey King criticized the decision as “excessive,” especially since it occurred during Serbian Heritage Night.
Amin expressed disbelief to King, questioning the fairness of Jokic’s ejection. King pointed out that fans attend games to watch the players, not the referees.
Jokic left the game with only 4 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists in 16 minutes. His ejection, notably calm, was surprising as it came without any apparent loss of temper, even though his ongoing complaints might have justified a single technical.
Despite losing Jokic and Jamal Murray being out, the Nuggets triumphed with a 114-106 victory. Guard Reggie Jackson notably contributed with 25 points, leading Denver’s scoring.
