[Saba Sports News] Recently, badminton player Sun Feixiang announced the happy news of becoming a father on social media, drawing strong attention from fans. Photos show Sun Feixiang posing with his newborn baby, his face beaming with happiness; the loving scenes prompted many fans to leave congratulatory messages. Sun Feixiang, who will turn 28 in two months, is 1.76 m tall and was formerly a Chinese men’s singles player. Although he has left the national team, he was once a highly regarded prospect. At the 2016 World Junior Championships, Sun defeated notable players including Lakshya Sen, Watanabe Koki, Kantaphon Wangcharoen, and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo to win the boys’ singles title. China did not reclaim the World Juniors boys’ singles crown until eight years later, in 2024. Unfortunately, Sun’s progression in the senior ranks did not meet expectations, much to the fans’ regret. Fortunately, he did not give up badminton: at last year’s 15th National Games of China he represented Jiangsu province and, alongside teammates such as Shi Yuqi and Lu Guangzu, helped win the men’s team gold medal — a fitting reward for his dedication to his career.
The editor believes that the younger generation of Chinese badminton players balancing family and career earlier reflects progress in social attitudes and athlete support systems, and conveys a healthy, positive approach to life.
