[Saba Sports News] Anthony Davis, while attending Phil Handy’s camp, “The Real 94 Feet of Game,” shared his thoughts on Lakers fans’ passionate and often tumultuous nature, saying, “Lakers fans are a rollercoaster, but I love it.” He appreciates the intense support and high expectations that come with being part of the storied franchise.
Phil Handy, a significant influence on the team and Davis, was recently let go after head coach Darvin Ham’s departure.
Since joining the Lakers five years ago, Davis has become a key player, earning three All-Star selections, two All-NBA team honors, and two All-Defensive team selections. He played a crucial role in leading the Lakers to the 2020 NBA Championship. Davis has averaged 24.7 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game while shooting 53.3% from the field and 27.9% from three-point range.
Despite his performance, injuries have hindered Davis from fully taking over from LeBron James. While initially expected to become the primary option after his second year, injuries delayed this transition. However, Davis has gradually taken on a more significant role, preparing for LeBron’s eventual transition as he approaches 40.
As the Lakers gear up for another season, Davis aims to stay healthy and continue his impressive contributions. Embracing the rollercoaster ride with Lakers fans, Davis looks forward to leading the team to further success and building his legacy in Los Angeles.
