[Saba Sports News] Fans might assume Anthony Edwards picks himself and the Timberwolves when firing up NBA 2K25—but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
While promoting Netflix’s *Starting Five*, a show spotlighting NBA stars including Edwards, he was asked in an interview if he plays as himself in the video game. His response was both unexpected and hilarious.
“NBA 2K, are you playing strictly as yourself?” the interviewer asked.
“Nah, I ain’t gonna lie. I be using the Celtics,” Edwards replied, laughing.
As Edwards kicks back ahead of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, his playful confession adds a light moment before a heavyweight matchup. The Timberwolves will face LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, starting April 19 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Edwards is coming off a stellar regular season, averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals across 79 games, while shooting 44.7% from the field and 39.5% from deep.
He dropped 30+ points 26 times and posted seven double-doubles, helping Minnesota lock in a 49-33 record and the No. 6 seed in the West. Now, the focus shifts to playoff success—and maybe a few more Celtics games in 2K on the side.
