[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards is well aware of his issues with technical fouls this season, but the Minnesota Timberwolves star says that won’t be a problem come playoff time.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Edwards vowed to keep his composure as the Timberwolves get ready to open their first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday. He promised to stay quiet and avoid giving officials any reason to call a tech.
“Yeah, I won’t get no techs,” Edwards said. “I won’t say anything. I’ll be super quiet. One hundred percent.”
Edwards racked up 17 technical fouls during the regular season and nearly picked up an 18th — which would have triggered a one-game suspension — before it was rescinded on appeal. With technical foul counts resetting for the playoffs, he now has a clean slate, though reaching seven in the postseason would lead to a suspension.
The Timberwolves will need a focused and dialed-in Edwards to get past the Lakers. He averaged 27.6 points per game this season, and staying out of trouble with the officials could be crucial to Minnesota’s playoff run.
