[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Atlético Madrid’s official social media deliberately omitted the name of Vinicius Junior when posting content related to the derby. During the Madrid derby, Atlético Madrid released live score updates on its official social media accounts. Interestingly, the club’s social media appeared to have “forgotten” who scored a brace in the derby, intentionally omitting Vinicius from the goal updates. Instead, it used phrases such as “the away team scores” to announce Real Madrid’s goals. In stark contrast, when Federico Valverde scored Real Madrid’s second goal, Atlético Madrid’s social media posted the update normally, stating “Valverde scores.” Atlético Madrid’s deliberate omission of Vinicius’s name sparked heated discussions after the match, and it also proved that the relationship between the Rojiblancos and the Brazilian player is far from amicable.
The editor believes that the rift between Atlético Madrid and Vinicius Junior has a long history. Vinicius still harbors resentment over the categorical remark made by Atlético manager Diego Simeone during the Spanish Super Cup: “Florentino Pérez will sack you.” Consequently, after scoring two goals in this match and being substituted, Vinicius deliberately walked toward Simeone, seemingly reminding him that he had just netted a brace.
