Her mother, He Tiantian, represented the Chinese team and won a bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Her father, Yu Qi, was also a member of the Chinese national badminton team. After retiring, they became Australian citizens and focused on promoting the sport in Australia.
