[Saba Sports News] British media reports indicate that
the average match duration in the Premier League this season has reached 101
minutes and 40 seconds, with an effective playing time of 59 minutes and 30
seconds. The implementation of stricter measures to combat time-wasting in
matches has contributed to the increase in average match time, which is now 3
minutes and 36 seconds longer compared to last season. This extended stoppage
time surpasses that of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has resulted in more
goals and cards being shown. The effective playing time in the Premier League
this season has seen an increase of 4 minutes and 25 seconds compared to the
previous season. A total of 151 goals have been scored in the Premier League
this season, averaging 3.1 goals per game. Remarkably, 22 of these goals were
scored during stoppage time, whereas there were only five goals in stoppage
time during the same period last season. Additionally, the number of yellow
cards in the Premier League has also risen, although the amount of time wasted
in matches has significantly decreased.
