[Saba Sports News] South Korean badminton player Kim Wonho has sparked strong interest from fans by posting a photo on social media of himself gifting a luxury car to his mother. The photo shows Kim Wonho and his mother standing next to the newly acquired car. Unlike her doting son, Kim’s mother, YOUNG-AH GIL, not only made a heart gesture to the camera but also showed a bright smile. According to South Korean media, the car gifted by Kim Wonho to his mother is from the Porsche brand, with a market price exceeding 200 million won. In fact, Kim Wonho’s mother is also a notable figure, having won a gold medal in badminton mixed doubles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics; in addition, she has a bronze medal in badminton women’s doubles from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and a silver medal in badminton women’s doubles from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. It can be said that compared to his mother’s achievements, Kim Wonho’s current accomplishments are far from sufficient. Influenced by his mother, Kim Wonho embarked on the path of a professional badminton player, also specializing in doubles. In 2017, at just 18 years old, Kim Wonho won the Sudirman Cup with the South Korean team, already possessing a world champion title at a young age. However, Kim Wonho’s selection at the time was controversial, and he was even ridiculed by extreme South Korean netizens, claiming he only got the championship by relying on his mother’s influence, and the title of “Prince” began to spread from that time.
