[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, Bayern Munich is facing a severe goalkeeper shortage. Currently, the club is short of options in the goalkeeping position. In the high-profile 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen, the goal was guarded by Sven Ulreich, nominally the third-choice goalkeeper. However, the experienced veteran now appears to have picked up an injury as well. He was unable to take the final goal kick of the game himself. Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig both missed the match entirely due to injury. Neuer has suffered another calf muscle fiber tear and is not expected to return until after the international break at the end of March. Meanwhile, Urbig sustained a head injury in this week’s Champions League match against Atalanta. He is expected to return to team training in the coming days at the earliest.
The editor believes that if none of the three experienced goalkeepers recovers in time by Wednesday evening, it remains an open question who will guard the goal for Bayern Munich in the second leg against Atalanta. In the match against Bayer Leverkusen, 16-year-old Leonard Prescott was on Bayern Munich’s bench.
