[Saba Sports News] According to German media reports, Bayern Munich’s championship celebration is now triggering political debate in Munich. Traditionally, both Bayern Munich men’s and women’s teams will hold a grand celebration at noon on May 18th on the city hall balcony in Marienplatz. Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter, a member of the Social Democratic Party and a die-hard Bayern Munich fan, has already extended an invitation to the city hall banquet hall. However, this celebration is now causing debate. Reports indicate that some lawmakers are demanding Bayern Munich to cover the costs of the championship celebration, as these expenses have historically been paid by the municipal government. The city hall championship celebration is a privilege granted to Bayern Munich, but using taxpayer money to fund it must stop. While Bayern Munich’s coffers are full, the municipal finances are stretched thin. Statistics show that the cost of such celebrations exceeded €400,000 in 2019, and this year’s budget is still around €500,000, mainly used for security personnel, isolation facilities, and broadcasting technology. These expenditures ultimately benefit the fans, who are mostly taxpayers. What do the fans think about this?
