[Saba Sports News] On Sunday night’s episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, The Ringer’s founder and CEO announced a major addition to his media empire: longtime NBA analyst and former ESPN colleague Zach Lowe is joining The Ringer and will launch his own podcast with the network.
“Once upon a time at Grantland, I used to work with a guy named Zach Lowe,” Simmons said. “I left Grantland, we haven’t worked together in 10 years—and now we’re going to be working together again. Zach Lowe is coming to The Ringer, he’s coming to Spotify, and we’re launching his podcast next week.”
The Ringer and Lowe himself confirmed the news on social media Monday.
Lowe, widely respected as one of the best basketball writers and analysts in the industry, first rose to prominence at *Sports Illustrated* before Simmons brought him to Grantland in 2012. Following Grantland’s shutdown in 2015 and Simmons’ departure from ESPN, Lowe remained at the network in a high-profile role, contributing across podcasts, TV, and ESPN.com.
That run ended late last year when ESPN controversially laid him off as part of broader cost-cutting measures—despite his reputation as the network’s top NBA voice.
Now, after a brief hiatus, Lowe is back—and reuniting with Simmons at The Ringer. With their proven chemistry and deep basketball insight, fans can expect a strong encore performance from one of the smartest duos in sports media.
