[Saba Sports News] The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has just announced a major news, stating that it will test a brand new 3-game 15-point scoring system in several selected events starting from April, a month earlier than originally scheduled for May. This news has attracted widespread attention since its announcement. Some media believe that the 3×15 scoring system will increase the excitement of matches because, compared to the current 21-point system, each game has fewer points, making each point more valuable. Players will need to fight harder for every point, which increases the probability of excitement in each point and adds more suspense to the match. However, for the players, it may increase the risk of injury. The new rules stipulate that each game is 15 points, with an upper limit of 21 points, and a lead of 2 points is required after a 14-point tie, leading to a denser competition for key points at the end of the game. Athletes need to frequently enter a high-intensity confrontation state, which may exacerbate the instantaneous load on muscles and joints. To adapt to shorter game scores, athletes need to quickly enter the state in a short period, increasing the risk of injury.
