[Saba Sports News] Zhou Guanyu’s future has been officially confirmed, as the Cadillac F1 team announced that the former Alfa Romeo driver will serve as the official reserve driver for the 2026 season. Previously, Zhou ended his role as a reserve driver with the Ferrari team. He will now join this new team, which also utilizes Ferrari power units. In fact, there were already signs of Zhou’s collaboration with Cadillac, as the team had previously hinted at this through social media, sparking speculation.
The official statement now confirms that Zhou will be involved in the preparation and development of the Cadillac F1 project alongside the main driver lineup. The team stated that Zhou will join the race roster, which includes Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez. Team principal Graeme Lowdon praised Zhou, highlighting that the selection criteria for reserve drivers are as strict as those for main drivers—they must possess F1 race experience, a strong team spirit, and the capability to participate in the entire season’s car development. Zhou fully meets these requirements.
The management team believes that Zhou’s addition will make the overall lineup for 2026 more complete and competitive. In my view, this is not only a role change for Zhou but also an important step in accumulating key assets for a potential return to a main driver position.
