[Saba Sports News] According to the latest notice issued by the Chinese Badminton Association in May 2026, a public call has been launched nationwide for cities to bid to host BWF World Tour Super 100 tournaments from 2027 to 2030.
The BWF World Tour ranks as the second-tier tournament system across the globe. Around eight Super 100 events are held worldwide each year. Eligible players can sign up to compete and earn world ranking points as well as prize money. Authorized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the Chinese Badminton Association is now collecting applications from host cities nationwide.
In accordance with the application rules, bidding cities are required to pay a deposit of 44,000 US dollars for the tournament bid. The deposit will be fully refunded upon the completion of the bidding process for unsuccessful applicants. If there is only one eligible applicant that meets all requirements, the Chinese Badminton Association may directly appoint it as the host. In the event of two or more qualified applicants, an evaluation panel will be set up to conduct a comprehensive review and select the final host city.
In my opinion, this tender only targets the BWF World Tour Super 100, a lower-tier event. It aims to improve China’s tournament layout for this period, which is more about filling gaps in the event schedule rather than competing for high-profile tournaments.
