[Saba Sports News] Just after the Paris Olympic badminton event ended, the Japan Open is set to begin on August 20, with a tightly packed schedule. According to the latest reports, China’s national badminton team will send its full roster to participate, which has surprised many, as they had just competed in the Olympics and were expected to take a break and send a second-tier team instead. The Japan Open, which began in 1982, initially had limited fame and influence. However, over time, due to large prize money and sponsorship from world-renowned badminton brands, its participant lineup has grown stronger, rivaling that of the All England Open. It later became part of the BWF Super Series, significantly boosting its international status. Over the past few decades, the Chinese team has achieved excellent results in this tournament. In 2013, Akane Yamaguchi broke Japan’s 31-year drought of not winning the women’s singles title at the event. Since then, the strength of Japan’s badminton team has continued to grow, with frequent successes in this tournament.
