[Saba Sports News] June 17 was the day for the draw announcement of the 2025 US Badminton Open, but on June 16, the main players of China’s national badminton team unexpectedly all withdrew from the competition, leaving fans very surprised and unsure if there is a new training plan. According to the latest display on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) official website regarding the list of participants for the 2025 US Badminton Open, apart from the mixed doubles pair Gao Jiaxuan/Wu Mengying, the rest of the Chinese players collectively withdrew from this tournament. The event is scheduled to take place from June 24 to 29, followed by the Canadian Open from July 1 to 6. Currently, in the BWF’s official list of participants, the key players of China’s national badminton team are still scheduled to compete in the Canadian Open. However, if China only participates in one Super 300-level tournament in North America, the cost might be too high, and media speculates that they will likely withdraw as well. Originally, Chen Yufei was set to participate in the two tournaments in North America with hopes of breaking into the top four in women’s singles. Now it seems that Chen has shifted her focus to Japan and China, where higher-level events are held.
