In honor of Mother’s Day, ESPN repeatedly cut to shots of Lisa throughout the game, especially whenever her son made a play.
While the sentiment was understandable, some fans felt the coverage became excessive, noting that Lisa was sometimes shown even when she wasn’t visibly reacting to the on-court action.
To be fair, Christian Braun played a significant role in the Nuggets’ 92-87 loss, finishing with 17 points, three steals, and a block. His performance arguably warranted the extra attention — just not quite to the degree some felt ESPN delivered.
Though athlete parents often go viral for emotional or entertaining reactions, in this case, the network’s frequent focus on Braun’s mom drew more distraction than delight.
