[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, the Rennes Administrative Court rejected a request made by Fatimata Dembele, the mother of Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele, on November 5, 2025, local time. Fatimata Dembele had sought to cancel the taxes levied on a 200,000 euro “gift” transferred by her son in 2017 to celebrate her 40th birthday. The court was not convinced by this justification, as the transfer date was more than six months after her birthday. Additionally, the funds were transferred to a bank account in Spain that had not been declared to the French tax authorities. Fatimata Dembele had previously applied to the court in April 2023 to reduce her income tax for 2017, the special contribution on high incomes, additional social security contributions, and corresponding surcharges. Her lawyer, Hubert Lefebvre, argued during the hearing on October 15, 2025, that the “gift” was proportional to his client’s son’s income and emphasized that there was no tax evasion involved. However, the court, in its ruling, stated that the applicant had failed to prove that the sum should not be subject to taxation. The court also stated that the tax authorities were entitled to treat it as income from an undeclared source and tax it according to the law.
