[Saba Sports News] In the match between Wolves and Ipswich, Wolves forward Matheus Cunha clashed with security personnel, elbowing a staff member from Ipswich and pulling off his glasses. He was subsequently banned for two matches and fined £80,000 by the FA. Cunha explained in his testimony that he intervened after seeing his teammate Rayan Ait Nouri surrounded by members of Ipswich’s security team. He stated, “When I tried to get close to Nouri to ensure he was okay, I suddenly found myself surrounded by many people. I felt I was being pushed by the security personnel from Ipswich, so I pushed back, trying to break free to protect myself. I never intended to make contact with the staff member and certainly never thought about elbowing him; I just wanted to push him away from Nouri. In the heat of the moment, I grabbed his glasses. I regret it; I know it was wrong, and I take full responsibility for my actions.” However, the committee did not accept Cunha’s account, as they saw no provocation from Ipswich staff.
