[Saba Sports News] Daren Liew, the bronze medalist in men’s singles at the World Badminton Championships, and skill analyst Gan Teik Chai have been suspended by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for alleged match-fixing. Liew faces four charges, including violations of betting regulations on badminton matches between July 1, 2020, and December 31, 2022, and failing to provide relevant information within the deadline, which violated judicial procedures. He has been banned from participating in all badminton-related activities for 12 months. Gan faces two charges for betting on badminton matches between February 1, 2021, and December 31, 2022, and has been banned for three months. The BWF released a 64-page ruling document on its official website, which includes all chat records between the two. The BWF stated that neither Liew nor Gan appealed the decision, thus it is finalized. According to a previous ruling report from the BWF, an independent hearing for this case took place from June 6 to 7 this year.
