[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Matthijs de Ligt has been out of action for more than three months, and fans have been concerned about his long-term condition since his back injury was revealed. The Netherlands international picked up the injury after the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at the end of November. Then-manager Ruben Amorim initially described the issue as minor. Asked about de Ligt’s condition, Michael Carrick said: “Matthijs has been having back problems, and his recovery has been a bit slow. The nature of this injury means it’s difficult to put a precise timeline on it. He is definitely improving, though.” De Ligt has been doing gym work and rehabilitation at Carrington, according to reports. A source revealed that de Ligt has been through “hell” over the past few months, and there is internal concern at the club about him. The centre-back has been close to returning on several occasions, but has suffered a number of setbacks and aggravated his back injury.
The editor believes that the 26-year-old Dutch international is regarded as one of Manchester United’s best players and a strong contender for the club’s Player of the Season award. However, it remains to be seen when De Ligt will return to action. As fans, we can only wish him a speedy recovery and hope he gets rid of his injury troubles.
