[Saba Sports News] Donte DiVincenzo was part of the major trade between the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves, which sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle, DiVincenzo, and others.
A report from SNY’s Ian Begley suggests DiVincenzo might be pleased with the move, as he was unhappy with his projected role in New York.
Following the Knicks’ acquisition of Mikal Bridges, DiVincenzo was expected to come off the bench, a shift he wasn’t thrilled about after a strong season. In his first year with the Knicks, DiVincenzo played 81 games, starting 63, and averaged 15.5 points on 44.3% shooting, including 3.5 made three-pointers per game.
After a breakout season, it’s understandable why he wouldn’t want to see his role diminished.
